A Brie Grows in Brooklyn

"Mabel's not crazy... she's unusual."

I am completely obsessed with Malachy, the Pekingnese who won “Best In Show” at Westminster. He looks like a cross between the guinea pig my family killed one spring break, my sister’s hamster, who died a tragic death when my uncle stepped on her during a softball game, and something that arrived on earth screaming on top of an asteroid.
I want to adopt him and brush his hair and see if he can speak English. I want to kiss his little nose and give him foie gras and laugh at him when he walks around. He is the funniest looking thing I’ve ever seen, and I love him.
Anyway, to see more pictures from Westminster, check out the Lens blog on the NY Times website, which chronicles Fred Conrad’s successful attempt to photograph all 102 champion breeds at the show.
