According to my 16-year-old brother Stuprendan, Ketamine (street names: “Special K”, “Cat Valium”) has just been approved by the FDA to treat depression.
“Oh by the way, ketamine (C13H16CINO) is now available via your M.D,” he wrote to me in an email yesterday. “That is unless you don’t already have a supplier (who knows).”
It’s nice to know that Stuprendan thinks that I’m hooked up enough to get Special K from a street dealer, because normally he just calls me a stupid loser.
I’ve actually known for a while that Ketamine was being used with bipolar patients. Let’s just say that my family stays on top of the research. You can read more about why it’s being used to treat depression here.
And for all of you ecstasy fanatics, MDMA is the next big chemical up on the plate to be approved for clinical use. It’s already being tested on patients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, aka me after Christmas with my family. Just kidding. But seriously, read more about how that drug might become legit here.
